RBA1044-600 – ‘Rio’ Time Flow Water Saving Lead-Free Tap
Owned and operated by the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust. The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, or MCEC for short, promotes itself as the “home of the unconventional”, existing as a hub for imagination and innovation and is now the largest convention and exhibition venue in Australia and one of the largest spaces in the southern hemisphere.
MCEC accommodates a large amount of traffic across its 70,000 square metres, consisting of 63 meeting rooms, outdoor courtyard spaces, a Plenary that can be divided into three self-contained acoustically separate theatres. The Goldfields Theatre is a 9,000 square metre multi-purpose event space with a retractable 1,000-seat theatre and 39,000 square metres of pillarless exhibition space. The Centre hosts a variety of large scale events, for example, The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and Australia’s largest health and development conference, the International AIDS Conference, attracting 14,000 attendees.
MCEC is based in the centre of Melbourne, next to the Yarra River in South Wharf. It exists as a cultural centre within the cultural centre of Australia. Additionally, MCEC is committed to sustainable solutions, becoming the first convention centre in the world to be awarded a 6 Star Green Star environmental rating in 2009. Furthermore, the centre has continually reevaluated sustainability throughout its life, reducing its CO₂ emissions by 22%, increasing rainwater capture and usage and introducing multiple waste diversion streams. Hence, RBA was perfect for the project, supplying heavy-duty, lasting and water-saving products provided by both RBA and Bobrick.
Pictured below is RBA’s ‘Rio’ Time Flow Water Saving Lead-Free Tap, or the RBA1044-600. The Tapware was ideal for the sustainable vision MCEC had, as it is self-closing with a time flow of 4-10 seconds. Categorised as an RBA Green product, the tap is water saving with a 6 star (4.5L/m) WELS rating. The tap also bears a 2-year warranty. The RBA1044-600 has an optional Heavy-Duty Brass Locknut (1083-999-010) suited for more vandal-prone areas if required for the project. With a polished finish, the tap blends into the simple design of the washroom, whilst keeping a sleek look and catering to high traffic with minimal water wastage.
Further pictured below is RBA’s Bobrick Contura™ Surface Mounted Soap Dispenser, or the B4112. Made from strong, Food-Grade Stainless Steel, the Dispenser is heavy-duty and hygienic. The soap capacity of the B4112 is 1.2 L whilst being antibacterial-soap resistant. It is an Accessible Compliant unit by using Luminance Contrast and bears a 3-year warranty. This can be used by a high amount and variety of people with minimal maintenance and maximum hygiene.
